Re: Our Australian Elections shows Aussies want the Greens to play a big part in a sustainable environmental future.
I'm actually a very conservative person, but liberal party policies, to me, are not about being conservative, they are about getting into bed with big business interests, at the expense of the rest of the population, and the environment.
Personally I think issues like same sex marriage, shouldn't even be a political issue, but one of personal choice. It has been made a political issue because government is not content to run the country, they want to interfere in peoples personal lives as well. Both major parties in Australia should butt out of peoples private lives.
Wanting equal rights for all people, regardless of sexua| orientation, is not a socialist issue, but one of human rights. It is not an issue for left or right wing politics.
I think perhaps you are right in the fact that many right wing conservationists, (although I have personally met very few of these), may be put off by the Greens pursuing issues that should not even be political issues in the first place. I too would like to see more political will and focus on issues that directly effect everyone, such as climate change, and pollution, water and renewable energy funding.
I think we agree on much more than we disagree on Peggy :)
and I always value your views, you are one of the few here on CZ that can put a political view across without resorting to insults and name calling, and that speaks volumes about the sort of person you are.
