Re: Does it take less time for already-lean people to reach stage five of a fast?

Hello again

First, thanks to Chiron and Boogiedownbone for replying. My question seems to have been answered - the 30-day time frame is probably correct, irrespective of starting weight (unless possibly one is already close to starvation), so there's no short cut for me. With that in mind please be careful Boogiedownbone - you seem to be sailing close to the wind - but you will know what you are doing, I have no doubt, and I wish you the very best of luck and will be looking for your posts.

Stage five I meant to be the final completion stage when the tongue clears (I've never had a pink tonge and I really want one!) and the body is fully detoxified. I read about the stages somewhere in the FAQ's or the knowledge base before posting.

There also seem to be stages in the life of a faster - and I'm in the initial stage of getting informed. I'm waiting for " Fasting Can Save Your Life " and Joel Furhman's "Eating and Health..." to arrive. I also did a short 36-hour fast last week just to get a taster, which was very encouraging, as I managed it without real difficulty. But I know a long fast would require genuine courage, it's definitely pushing the boat out.

I'm fasting primarily for health issues: to lower my cholesterol and to rid myself of multiple benign subcutaneous lipomas, and to return my body to a clean state of health. Also, of course, there is the self-knowledge and spiritual aspect to fasting, and I do plan to pray and meditate whilst fasting. My life has been lacking spirituality for a long time.

Ok, enough already! Sorry for such a long post and wishing you a successful fast, Boogiedownbone.

Koldo.
