Re: Does it take less time for already-lean people to reach stage five of a fast?
hello, I'm not sure what "stage five" is--and according to whom. is it "completion"? I read voraciously, for about a month before I *jumped in* to my first fast. I was hoping for the elusive and lovely-sounding "completion"--the return of Natural Hunger--I capitalize it, because after I'd read a few of the fasting masters (*soil and health library, online), it just sounded like a wonderful new start; to actually feel genuine hunger for the first time in this life--consciously, that is. (I don't count being a newborn) :-)
Anyway, I don't recall hearing about "stage five"... but this was a few years ago. So--after a LOT of reading of the old lit; and I can't emphasize that enough -the internet is full of not-so-great information otherwise- I went ahead with what amounted to a 29 day fast. I was hoping for completion. I know nothing about weight loss, and working out the numbers, since I don't own a scale, and was more interested in an experience that would allow me to 'begin again', having undone some health issues, and changed my mind. My whole way of looking at the body and food... Now that I have reflected on it, I believe a
Water Fast can be a truly profound first step--
but as Chris has written, in a post underneath this, about fasting "frequency"-- the
Water Fast is properly only one part of a much larger mandala of Natural Hygiene. In that context, it becomes a precious opportunity for rejuvenescence. And it's life-altering, in the best way; in that everything looks new, and one gains a real appreciation for the 'miracle' of the human body, and one's potential, is the body is maintained well.
If the
Water Fast is undertaken as some sort of weight loss attempt, and the impetus is mainly on appearances, it is likely to be unsatisfying, and rather unpleasant.
wishing you a really GOOD experience,
Make sure you read Shelton, Bass, Purinton, some or all of those guys... (The womens' day will come :-)
Edit:
I realize you said "already-lean"-- I want to say, I'm not speaking personally, about the weight-loss perspective;
speaking broadly to whomever might read this; and meaning no offence.
If a person is already lean, they will likely lose weight slower... and again, whatever is lost will be what can afford to be gone: damaged and unneeded cells...
It is wise to consider how well-mineralized you are before you begin water fasting. That's why reading about Natural Hygiene as a whole is very helpful.
