Re: Hveragerthi..Orthoiodosupplementation
Hv, I had a similar reaction, (little red bumps), only many more than with iodine, when I was swimming in a chlorinated pool. So it makes me think that other halogens may cause this to happen as well.
To really get to the bottom of this question of the displacement of bromide/bromine, some study using scientific method is necessary IMHO, otherwise all we can do is guess.
I did several
Iodine loading tests, before and while supplementing, it took several months before these loading tests showed any increase in urinary
Iodine excretment.
So either there was no excess iodine, to excrete in my urine, (my body was using it all, or most of what I was ingesting), or I was excreting
Iodine excess through my skin for 2 weeks, causing these little red bumps, and then this stopped.
There is also a vast difference in the amount of halogens people are exposed to, based on what water they drink, (whether the water is chlorinated, fluoridated, or not), whether they are exposed to halogens environmentally, or through their diet, or not. So if it is bromide/bromine that is excreted and forms these pimples, the extent and duration will also be very different among individuals.
Just some thoughts :)
