For a sore throat I recommend using the tea, not the capsules.  And you need to physically boil the bark for 20 minutes covered.  Steeping the bark in hot water will not extract it.  I use a heaping tablespoon of the bark per quart of water.  Bring the water to a rapid boil and add the bark.  Cover the pot but keep it at a rapid boil for 20 minutes.  Then turn off the heat and let it sit until cooled.  You can sweeten the tea with stevia. Then drink the tea throughout the day.

And yes, pau d' arco, and andrographis, are extremely effective against leukemia viruses including the HIV virus.
