Re: It's not a sad day!!
I hope I am standing up for those on both sides of the fence.
Grz, I have the utmost respect for what you say and do and I appreciate probably more than most why you have tried to stand up for those on both sides of the fence. Sometimes though, my friend, and speaking from experience, when you try to straddle a fence that contains many barbs you end up with quite the pain in the old posterior.
History has indeed shown many who were persecuted for their beliefs who turned out to be right, regardless of their deliveries. History is also replete with those whose ego, mania and/or persecution complexes drove them further and further off the deep end.
I think you will find this to be a temporary time out, and whether a lesson has been learned and ML is pushed back from the deep end into calmer and safer water will ultimately be up to him. From this vantage point, it appeared to be a downward spiral into meltdown - almost as if he was pushing the envelope further and further and asking to be banned.
Like you, I think he has made valuable contributions and helped a great many people here. He has also abused a great many and I hope he returns with the help and leaves the abuse behind.
Just my two cents,
