Sorry to hear about this syndrom/sickness.
Was wondering if "grounding exercises" would be helpful. There are any number of simple exercises in Yoga and Chi Gong that I know of that IMHO may make a person more aware of having a body and taking the time to become aware of what the body is feeling.
Also meditating is what "comes to mind"! The key to this is not to identify with the body/mind - and to allow the thoughts to pass by and then focussing one´s thought once again on one´s breath.
