Having a bridge fitted grinds down teeth (anchor teeth) on either side. There are new bridges which are less damaging but mine is the old style that grinds the teeth down to nothing.

The other thing to be aware of is that any anchor teeth with amalgum will react to the metal in the bridge unless its properly insulated.
