Re: Composition of amalgam fillings

The study said the amount of mercury was reduced to 1.5 micrograms per day after 2 years, in a sterile in vitro environment. The mercury was still there of course, it didn't disappear.

If the water was not changed then yes the mercury would still be there. This is common sense. The mercury does not degrade.

Like we said before, if the mercury, which is substantial, dissolves in your mouth, you'd be missing 50% of your filling.

So do you have proof that the fillings get smaller over the years as the mercury leaches out? Have you considered the fact that mercury can be leached out leaving micropores?

Other studies have shown mercury exposure between 2-12 micrograms per day from fillings that were older than 2 years old.

Post the studies so we can see how they were performed. Just because a study says something does not mean it was not manipulated.

The question is, is low level exposure to mercury safe?

Noone is questioning the toxicty of mercury. But you are overlooking a lot of factors such as chelation from pectins and algins in foods we eat.

We don't really know the answer to that question yet, but judging from people's experiences with having their fillings removed, I'd say no.

Again, that is not proof. You still have to prove that there was any mercury leaching after a few decades. Maybe they feel better because they had a minor infection trapped in the tooth. Point is that there are other factors that can be playing a role. So this is not evidence.
