Re: Bio-identical hormones?

Here’s an update on my consultation yesterday.

First of all let me say the place I am working with is one of the place listed in SS book. Angie, visited with me about 30 minutes by phone yesterday (no one in our area who works with bio-identical) and her findings are that I am extremely high in estrogen, my thyroid is within normal range, my Progesterone is low, my DHEA is good, my Estradiol is good, and my Testosterone is very low.

So to balance me I received a prescription of Progesterone/Testosterone that I will take 20 days a month. Then one for just Testosterone that I will take 10 days a month at which time I will have a period.

For me having a period for the rest of my life is a small price to pay for halting the aging process and feeling human again. I agree with SS when she said that having a period is the normal state for the female body. Now, don’t get me wrong anti-aging is not my goal. Anti-disease is my goal. To achieve the maximum bone mass, etc. I need balanced hormones, which means monthly periods. I don’t want my body to stay in the heighten state if Estrogen which is where a body w/o a period stays, in an induced state of pregnancy.

I received my prescriptions today, they were sent over night to me. My consultation with Angie, my Rx, and the shipping came to $155.00. My blood tests were around $300.00. We don’t have health insurance, so I felt these were reasonable cost and the choice to be without insurance allows us to spend our money planning for health rather than planning for illness.
