Re: When Chris B talks, I LISTEN!

Sorry DQ, I should definitely poke my nose into your forum a little more often, but then I am mostly preoccupied with the Water Fasting support forum and private emails thru my inbox, asking for advice.

To comment on each of your points in turn though.....

On the subject of thirst and the need for water........

Hygiene teaches us that if we live on a diet that is predominantly of a high-water-content, then there is very little need for extra water, as this is supplied within the diet of fruit and vegetables, plus seeds nuts and legumes: the former two of which are the most important in that respect.
It is only because we do not largely adhere to a plant-based-diet that we have an increased demand for water; this is signaled to us by our bodies in the creation of thirst.
Of course there are many health-issues created by dehydration or the lack of water, but these health issues just do not arise if adopting the high-water-content-diet.

Our demand for water is therefore related to the diet, and of course other factors such as exercise, but these are mostly met by the type of diet advocated, and where the SAD will create a greater demand than would otherwise be the case.
I drink but one small glass of water every couple of days as my diet provides my water: the body is composed DQ as you know of approx' 70% water but less of a % as we grow older.
Drinking water to dispel hunger in preventing snacking may work for some, but then this depends on what is really meant by "hunger" or just irritation/appetite and therefore not true hunger. True hunger will not disappear when physically active, but appetite/irritation (or what we perceive as hunger) actually will.

The drinking of water with meals was described by the early and present-day Hygienists as an abomination on the system, as this will dilute the digestive juices and create imperfect digestion/fermentation/putrefaction.........not to be recommended.

Most definitely: a weekly fasting day or even alternate fasting days of one day feeding, and one day on water according to thirst is highly beneficial to health. Dr Dewey MD wrote the book entitled "The No-Breakfast Plan and The Fasting Cure"....just eat lunch and Dinner, making the lunch "light" with the main meal in the evening, which has profound benefits to health.
There is a Roman proverb that applies here: "a full stomach doesn't like to think".......a hearty meal produces a huge drain on nervous-energy, and most would find it hard to stay awake for that very reason.

It is true that the body needs ample water, but this can and should be supplied by a natural plant-based-diet.........NOT the recommended eight glasses a day which overburdens the kidneys in elimination........if you try it....thirst will almost entirely disappear.

Snacking overworks the digestion and does not allow the digestive energies time to recuperate before the next meal.........a bit like having to go to work without any rest in between.........something will "give" in the end.

I'll be paying you a visit real soon they're boy.

Regards

Chris
