Re: I am NOT fasting anymore until..
Hello Nadia,
Anya is quite right: there is no real need to offer an explanation or even justify WHY you have only just realized your discovery of an ED, but sometimes, the process of revealing your thoughts to others can be therapeutic and cathartic, and where this can lighten the burden of concealment, leading to what the British refer to as "getting it off ones chest" or "a problem shared is a problem halved".
By doing this, and sharing your experiences, gives an opportunity for other members to offer their suggestions and ideas with ED's and where this would hopefully bring other members "out of the closet" for their benefit.
As far as I know, no one on the forum here is qualified to offer concrete advice to resolve ED's (and that includes myself) but I think that Anyas personal experiences with ED's are very important and that she has said is now in remission, if not resolved entirely, which is extremely good news.
You are absolutely right Nadia, fasting IS not and SHOULD not be a way of life, but only a means to an end in achieving wellness & freedom from disease, and where the other elements of health, encouraged by Natural Hygiene, are equally important; just one of these elements is "emotional/mental poise" which is easier said than done, especially if the root cause is of a psychological/emotional origin as in the case of many ED's.
In Dr Sheltons era, and those who came before him, they never referred to a single case of an ED that I am aware of, and where for the most part the people who fasted were under close supervision throughout the fast itself, AND for the entire re-feeding period: unlike now, where we can fast with impunity for as long as we felt the need with no supervision and with complete anonymity. Thank you to Mouseclick for highlighting this.
Just one last main point that I think is relevant and worth considering, is that the food we consume today has a much smaller fraction of its nutritional value of yesterday, in that our soils are very much depleted of nutrients thru the over-farming of crops, and as illustrated by Dr Al Sears MD.
The body has what is known as an "appestat" located somewhere near the Hypothalmus in the Brain and which will tell us when we are full or had sufficient nutrition. This results in the body demanding more bulk from food as it is not satisfied nutritionally, and where the consequences are overeating with the resultant global epidemic of obesity. This I believe contributes to some although not all ED's.
Food for thought perhaps!!
The post I made here........
//www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1107569#i
was referring to resolving "anorexia" (loss of appetite) as opposed to "anorexia nervosa" (loss of appetite thru psychological/emotional trauma) and where the Orthomolecular stance has been a very successful one in its treatment.
It is your decision of course as to when you may need professional help/guidance if at all, and where I think that is the stance we would all probably advise: you are your own person, and where the posts in response to your own are only supportive and not judgmental, which is as it should be.
I think Archus has given you some very useful insights (as have many others) in approaching our relationship to food, and that can only be to the benefit of yourself and anyone else who reads this thread.
My own thoughts on this are that the resolution to ED's is a many-sided and complex issue, and where there are many approaches that can be utilized, and where it could be a mistake to discount one type of approach over another.
I would like to illustrate this with just one personal testimony........
"Sonia Novinsky, an EFT practitioner from Brazil worked with a woman, Kara (whose name has been changed to protect privacy), who was in her thirties and had an eating disorder since adolescence. In addition to compulsive eating, Kara also was a compulsive shopper and Sonia quickly found that she had many emotional issues in her life that were causing her distress.
For example, Kara's mother had suffered with leprosy since Kara was a child. Kara had been told by her grandmother that her mother's illness and disfiguration happened because Kara was "a bad girl".
Kara recounted a vast array of core beliefs and emotional issues related to food, family, her body, sexuality and relationships. All of these issues contributed to Kara's compulsive behavior with food and with shopping.
Sonia worked with Kara for 12 sessions over a six week period, with a great deal of EFT homework, persistence and love. In the process, her numerous emotional issues were resolved and higher levels of personal peace were achieved.
Once these underlying causes were eliminated, Kara was "completely without compulsion" for food or shopping. Her self image improved, she was eating healthy meals and had improved her relationships with people.
This was a complex case and Sonia's persistence and detective work to get to Kara's core issues were the key to success. Once these issues were found, EFT could handle them with relative ease. It should be noted that eating disorders, compulsions, addictions and weight issues all have similar emotional causes that can be addressed with EFT".
Please note EFT can be at least partially successful on even complex cases by merely applying the process mechanically. It is simple to do and results usually follow.
