Re: Stomach and throat from hell
I've been thinking about your case as I look into mine. I had read that antibiotics deplete potassium and while i was looking into that today I saw that alcohol depletes potassium. Potassium is needed for stomach acid production.

Now, if stomach acid is low you will get overgrowths of yeasts and bacteria in teh stomach b/c acid kills them and you can get burping.
There is an easy, cheap test to do for stomach acid.
Here's the baking soda test: Do this test when you have an empty
stomach. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in an 8-ounce glass of
water (that's baking soda--sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder).
Drink it, noting the time on your watch or a clock. Measure how
much time passes before you burp. If you haven't burped in five
minutes, you can stop timing. A person with a normal level of
stomach acid will burp within two minutes. Some normals burp within
one minute. If you haven't burped after five minutes have passed,
you are seriously low in stomach acid.
I've done this and have never burped until today. And the difference is I've been drinking a lot of my homemade veggie broth which is high in calcium, sodium, magnesium and POTASSIUM. And today I burped which means I'm producing acid. The thing about minerals is you need acid to dissolve them and you need tht potassium to produce the acid. (although there was no acid in my veggie broth)
Maybe you've just depleted some minerals from the alcohol and the antibiotics and maybe you just need to replete them.
Let me know how you make out.
