Re: Stomach and throat from hell
Hey gulfgirl, thanks for the response again. Have you checked out these sites?

There's a few others that I forgot, but basically they say that "GERD" doesn't exist, at least not as a disease. It doesn't deny acid regurgitation or food regurgitation, but it explains that it's not a disease and isn't permanent. Anyway, I never get any heartburn ever, and my discomfort is pretty much all day, regardless of what I do and feels like it's in the lower airways (below my throat). The ticling isn't affected by swallowing, so it leads me to think it's not an esophagus problem.
When they went down into my esophagus they didn't see any irritation either.
I just really want to get to the bottom of this. I really do think I have too many symptoms for this to be reflux. I do kind of think the drug industry has over-marketed the prevalence. ENT's are now prescribing Nexium if you come in with a red throat, and any throat symptoms combined w/ stomach symptoms is an automatic "GERD" diagnosis for most doctors.
This theory wasn't around that long ago, and now there's all kinds of adverts for it in the doctors office with PPI brand names promoting the theory. My symptoms also came on instantly, it wasn't gradual like how they explain "GERD" is. Usually they talk about people with chronic heartburn getting it after meals, then they slowly get it more until it becomes a problem. My symptom was instant shortness of breath after drinking gin, then a tickling throat the next day that hasn't gone away since then.
Do you have any other ideas as to what it could be? I know I have some difficulty swallowing, but the sites that promote the "gerd" theory claim this happens when you get scarring and real damage to your esophagus, mine checked out w/ no damage at all, and even no irritation.
Could I be allergic to something in my house all of a sudden?
Do you think I'll ever recover from this?
Thanks
