Re: Can I divorce my wife without a lawyer, even if we live in two separate states?

Yes you absolutely can. my X husband and I were married for 11 years. We are still good friends and raise our children together but we did it all ourselves. You need to file a few things:
Go to your courts website ( you can call them to get it) or go in person. You'll need to file. You need to file in the state you were married in unless you moved out of it. If you both live in different states from where you lived when you were married, then either of you could go to your local court and petition, or contact the court from the state you were married in and ask for a telephonic hearing, or go there in person. You still have to file the papers either way.
IF YOU AGREE and your children are adults you would fle:

Joint Petition without Minor Children
To commence a proceeding for a divorce or legal separation by both parties to the marriage who do not have any minor children.

Income and Asset Statement
Income and asset Statement for post judgment proceedings.

Financial Disclosure Statement
This form is used by a party to provide the court and other parties a comprehensive disclosure of their financial situation, including assets, liabilities, income and expenses.

NOW THAT ALL BEING SAID, check with the court you will be filing your papers with to see if they require the same forms, or if there is others you need to file. Also ask what they're filing fees are. If you do nto have the money to pay for those fees, you will need to go in person and fill out a WAIVER OF FEES form Which will go before a judge or commissioner. So there's a possibility fees can be waived but really they're not that much. Again depending on what state you live in.

Hope this all helps.
