I just did my own divorce.
I was separated for a number of years (12)
We had no assets to split
the children are over 21
we were married and lived in NYS the entire marriage (16 years)
I moved to Pennsylvania (eligible as resident there after 6 months), he lives and is from Canada
I got a Pennsylvania divorce.
I paid $30.00 to consult with a lawyer for 30 minutes and used the local law library.

For me it was because we had been separated for over one year.
It took about 3 months from start to finish, but it could be shorter or longer depending on specifics, mine could have been a couple of weeks shorter but I wasn't sure about a certain step. Tweet
