Re: Origin of God

I don't see the forgiving and loving Creator as giving us threats either, just warnings. He is omniscient and doesn't want us to sin and lead wicked lives without repentance. The prodigal son parable, in my humble opinion, is about his infinite forgiveness when we repent. But we have to take the first step and COME HOME TO HIM.

I think it is more like when a parent sees their child playing by the road and yells to get their attention and to get them in the house before they get hurt. They love that child so much that if they have to yell and holler to get them in the house and to prevent them from being seriously hurt, then so be it. In the end, if the child ignored their parent and just played wherever they wanted, they would be the one hurt, not the parent. But the parent doesn't want that to happen, so they warn them.
