So...what is the standard?

Keep standing by your man, that's awesome.
Doctors label a condition "phycological" when they have failed a patient. That one word shifts the blame so they are no longer responsible, the patient is. That isn't a bad thing...people decide to come here because of it. :)

"Why is there so much conflicting information out there - it is so difficult trying to work out diet due to this. One person says eat brown rice one says only eat white rice then someone else says dont eat any rice!!!! How you are supposed to get well like this is beyond me!"

My answer for you is the Bible. God has a lot to say about health, herbs, diet, cleanliness, so on and so forth. A man by the name of Jordan Rubin was diagnosed terminal with Crohn's disease years ago. He nearly died, and upon recovering he wrote a book entitled "The Makers' Diet" to guide others from debiliting illness to health. The book contains his journey, all the medical route stuff, to natural healing. It lists every essential oil, herb and food that God himself said to use, along with the current science to give us the reasons why. It also explains the forbidden foods and why. The book was a best seller and should still be readily available, but then most people already have a Bible around. :)

As others have said, when the liver is compromised any other cleanse will make you sicker. EVERYTHING goes through the liver. I haven't done an herbal colon cleanse, so I can't relate there. I've heard they are harsh so I went with irrigation colonics. Painless. See if you can find a practitioner in your area. I've done two different herbal parasite cleanses on several occasions without ill side effects and I've never heard of anyone having problems with one. The liver flushes are as different as night and day depending on the protocol followed and whether or not parasites were taken care of first.

Do the activated charcoal and probiotics right away as I mentioned on a post above, there shouldn't be any side effects with those. Don't follow the dosing instructions on the bottle for the probiotics, triple it. Wait to tackle the liver until he's done a parasite cleanse.

Keep us updated.
