do you use active yeast? i have found that supplementing with active yeast, as opposed to 'dead' yeast (which is what most nutritional yeast is), makes a huge difference for me. its a bit more expensive but its totally worth it. i am now experimenting with yeast fermentations. we'll see how that goes.
