Re: If I were a gazillionaire, I'd fund it ADDED TEXT!
I wanted to add something to this....
Public parasite education would be extremely helpful; in fact, I think it is needed. I came across a public health education/study that was done in Mexico. Maybe I can find it again (it was at the time of the computer crash). It was very simple -- on tapeworms -- segments were preserved in jars and displayed as a tool for education. Later, a survey was conducted to see if anyone in the family had noticed these things in their stools. It was discovered that people could identify parasites parts, when many didn't know what they had expelled had been a parasite. It was determined that a serious parasite problem did exist within the region. I figured if the Mexicans can do it, why can't we?!
Many years I had explained to a distant relative what I found in the toilet. They too, many years prior, saw something similar and didn't know what it was and flushed it away. This person has many digestive problems and other health issues and I believe it is parasite related.
If a funding project is going to be done, I think that there needs to be showing of "proof" that a problem exist. Hulda Clark tried to let many people know about parasites, but was ignored and shot down when no publications for "proof" where provided. Without medical "proof" this will be a long battle for many of us who'd like to bring to the public for awareness. Therefore, whoever does the funding needs to play it smartly so that the problem can be taken seriously as a public health issue.
The FDA (who wouldn't be responsible for something like this) or whatever governing body can't do anything about a privately funded project as you suggested. If "proof" can be shown, the NIH or CDC might be interested in partnering up on the issue for public awareness and they would fund the education on a wider scale. If they don't want to do it.... there are Oprah, Dr. Phil, investigative news agencies who have already opened the door into the possible existence of parasites.
The biggest hurdle is showing "proof" that parasites exist -- it has to be done medically & scientifically -- without this, we'll go nowhere on the issue.
