Re: Curious about Policy
There is a difference between being a titled
doctor and someone with an opinion or a tonic
to sell. People ask me for health advice and
although I have entertained the idea of going
to school and becoming a naturopath, I would
not call myself one or allow others to think
I was anything but who I am, someone who has
reclaimed her own health using alternative
health treatments. Very often I will refer
friends to a naturopath because they DO have
the education and experience that is needed
to give them the real help they need and not
merely an opinion (mine). Likewise, Curezone
has titled doctors and the forums who are
owners with opinions or who have done research
in specific areas which may qualify them to
discuss these topics. I think we naturally
expect more from someone who has a title in
front of their name.
So, sure, there are plenty of people who are
using their expertise or opinion to influence
people. I am of the *opinion* however that
if a doctor is not a real doctor, in light
of the connotation that title infers, that
perhaps Ask Dr. Charlie's forum should read
Ask Charlie. He could still have the ability
to sell his tonic and post his opinions, but
that the impact and worth those opinions
hold would not be that of someone who is a
real doctor.
I see a difference...of course in all things
online, it is up to the person to do their
own research and make choices for themselves
they can live with.
best wishes,
Zoe
