hair shedding is not caused by distilled water!
i think bling was maybe talking about me and my hair loss! no, i wasn't drinking distilled water during my fasts - but i was drinking absolutely pure water (no sodium, no chloride, no fluoride).
i drink 'pureau' water in australia which is 100 times more pure than world health organisation and australian national food authority standards.

click on 'water & you' and there is a really interesting article on tap water (written by a naturopath i used to see)
i use this water for absolutely everything - even to clean my teeth and my teeth have been much whiter and i don't ever get that yukky furry feeling anymore.
with regards to hair shedding, it is a self-correcting condition called 'telogen effluvium' and the primary causes of this are:
* Illness, especially if there is fever
* Surgical operation
* Accident
* Childbirth
* Nervous shock
* Weight loss or unusual diet (i guess this includes fasting!!)
* Certain medications
* Discontinuing the contraceptive pill
* Overseas travel resulting in jetlag
* Excessive sun exposure
i'll repost the link to more info on this condition:

hair shedding usually occurs about 30 days from the onset of one of the above causal factors, but you can more accurately determine the onset from looking at the beau's ridges on your nails.
i had to see my g.p. the other day and she told me that the main cause of telogen effluvium is stress.
i am now on day 24 or so of refeeding, following my 36 day fast-to-completion. i have just started to notice some slight hair shedding again now (*grrrr* it was just starting to grow back!!) which is exactly the same timeframe as i experienced before on my 26 and 14 day fasts.
from my experiences, pure water is far superior to tap water. and although i'm not entirely convinced about distilled water, the hair shedding is completely unrelated to its usage.
