Re: At Wits End after Mirena Removal

Thank you for your words of encouragement for all of us. I had my IUD out 6 days ago. I have been bleeding mildly ever since. The discharge has a malodorous scent. I don't know if this is a normal occurance, but I thought I'd write about it, in case others have the same and wonder if they are alone. My doctor told me that all my hormone levels are normal. I had my blood tested the day of removal, within 30 minutes of removal in fact. The GYNO said my symptoms sounded like there may be a problem with my pituitary, parathyroid glands or I may be menopausal (I am 38). But all blood work says that none of that is true. The doctor said all the synthetic hormone is by now out of my blood stream and if my symptoms are continuing, that I should have a psychological assessment.

It was really nice to read your posting to find that this recovery from Mirena will take time, but that improvement is eminent if indeed the IUD has caused all my problems. I am going for the psychological assessment regardless so that if the psychologist says I am 'normal' I can take that back to my M.D. to prove that she is wrong. If I am mentally ill in some way, that's okay too. I just want to be on the road to wellness either way.
