Re: Toddler has ribbon-like stool

At first glance, the ribbons sounds like partial constipation, the kind that is not fully locked down bowells, but bowells that are still tight enough to not allow full opening. I can also imagine that a 2.5 year old who is still learning the ropes of what it means to have regular potty habits may have some additional stress creepng in if he is picking up feedback from you, even subtle, that you are worried about the situation. That's just a guess. Schulze himself mentioned in a seminar about our culture, and how we all have these phrases or reactions that add negativity to the BM experience ..."make a nasty"......"do the dirty deed"..... you know? Seemingly harmless expressions that a young child may not understand the humor factor BUT might still pick up on the negative vibe..... just a suggestion.

If you are comfortable giving an enema to a small child, maybe try that one time to see if it helps.

PS - just wanted to mention, if you go the route of having him tested, x-rayed or looking for whatever potential physical problem, sometimes those folks have a knack for finding something even when there was nothing there to be found. If the child is not in any distress or danger, perhaps wait it out a bit longer. Good luck either way.
