Re: hypocrisy
I can totally understand your mind-set. That is similar to many billion people in that we are not all one and never will be....humans are the ultimate living creature.
Well my God...the one that believes we are all connected and are all one, should show compassion and love to everything....even what we consider to be non-sentient life-forms.
I posted this thread, not to argue whether abortion is right or wrong, rather i was COMPARING abortion and the feelings of those who oppose it to the practice of millions of animals, fully grown sentient beings that are incompassionately murdered on a daily basis. I was wondering if anyone who opposes abortion also opposes the destructive death of animals too. It seems that not many do. If the shoe fits....
I don't have a universal book of 'God' to throw quotes around at people to justify my viewpoint.
I simply look into my heart and see many wrongs in this world, that , in my opinion could be avoided....and certainly i feel should be avoided.
The unnatural killing of anything is wrong.
If you would like to spare some more thought on this i suggest some readers watch 'Earthlings' and then tell me that humans are the superior race.
If we are indeed the most superior how come the world is in a quagmire of depravity, desperation, hatred, greed, hunger...etc?
It is the very MINDSET that we are superior that has created such an inbalance resulting in catastrophic acts being committed every second we are conscious.
Just as children are dependent on adults, so are all living things. Let's not forget that. It is our responsibility to care.
Do you feel safe walking the streets of a city at night alone? Do you feel safe to let your children play outside with their friends? Is this because we know there are not many people 'out there in the world' that will unconditionally care about us?
When fear controls our actions, our decisions and actions are therefore forced by a negative emotion, which regularly results in chaos and regret. People fear parenthood and kill the unborn. People fear becoming protein deficient so therefore eat the muscle of animals farmed on chemicals and other industry-associated toxins.
I fear that someday i will be the only person walking this earth that gives a damn. Oh Well...i have enough love to go around :-)
I would like to offer those who end up reading this a recommendation...if you happen to visit Amazon soon, look for ''The Divine Matrix'' by Gregg Braden.
It is an astounding read and very powerfully uplifting.
Finally, ultimately i do not necessarily disagree or agree with everything that has been said in this thread. I realise we are all on a journey of personal understanding and have ooodles of thanks to give to those wanting to share where they are at by writing their opinions. Debate is quite a harsh term to use. If we all think instead we are sharing our views then maybe we won't feel that we need to think that we are right about everything we believe in at this current point in our lives.
Just revel, instead, in the journey.
