Well there's another usage of cabbage I know of that is unknown in North America.
Fasting with cabbage water.
Cabbage water is easy to make, just buy a nice and firm cabbage and slice them in four pieces or smaller to be able to fit it thru the mouth of the mason jar of like 3 litres or more depending what you have a mason jar available. The cabbage pieces should fill the mason jar by 1/3 of the whole size of the mason jar and fill the rest with the filtered tap water or something better that you can find. Don't throw the core of the cabbage when cutting it to the pieces. Just cut the base of the core where it's dirty.
As well you can sprinkle a bit of
Sea Salt or similar (coarse and unprocessed) over the water to initiate the kosher effect, and cover with a lid allowing a bit of air to circulate. Allow it to sit for 24 hours or more. If you're using a red cabbage, the water is ready to drink when the water is red. Don't even eat the cabbage, just discard it after all the water from the mason jar is consumed. If using
Sea Salt way, don't be put off by the smell of the water that comes out of it, it smells like the kosher water, but lighter. You can even put other vegetables like cellery hearts, cellery stalks, even radishes for their iron content (the red from the radishes will disappear into the water leaving the radishes completely white), as well other beneficial herb roots like parsnips etc. When you want to use the water, pour it over a cup with a cheese cloth or something similar to not get any cabbage bits etc into the cup.
Also the way I fast is the proper way, start with one week to taper off from the solid foods to just cabbage water in the following manner, first day drink one or more cups of the cabbage water and eat the other meals as usual, the next days reduce the amount of the normal meals and increase the intake of the cabbage water till the end of the week when you just drink the cabbage water instead of eating a meal normally. That way you avoid the cravings and stomach cramps from not eating solid meals. I even did a 2 month fast on it with no bad effects whatsoever and even lost
pounds and slimmed down with no physical effort (I didn't even do any physical exercise at all during that period). At the end of the fast again taper off of the cabbage water in the inverse way you started the fasting. That way you don't shock your system too fast, it adapts nicely without any side effects.
My understanding is that the cabbage aids in repairing the DNA and helps flush out the toxins out of the body. Even the urine color will be like water with a very very very small tint of yellow suggesting that the toxins are flushed out almost completely.
Also when I started fasting I thought to try to program the water to extract the nutrients/minerals from the cabbage and deposit the toxins into the cabbage pieces and energize itself so that it has a double effect for me, no toxins and boost of energy for myself during the fast. During the fast I always experience lightheadedness which means your body is clearing out the toxins very fast and process the oxygen properly. Programming the water worked for me since water basically is a liquid crystal with miraculous properties, but discussing about it is another topic not covered in this forum.
The cabbage water was mentioned in a swiss book written by Ernst Günter named Live Food (I have the book, but it's translated to romanian, and I can't find any english translation of this book elsewhere).
