The other choice is reverse/osmosis. You should be able to get a free estimate to have a filtration system put into your home. IF you can't afford that, then I'll tell ya this:

The last time I went to our Walmart, they had one of those units where you bring in your own gallons for refilling. The water is filtered "through reverse/osmosis"!!!

R/O "removes 95-96% of fluorides and chlorine" - at least that's what my culligan manual says.
