Re: Order
Thanks PTree for explaining because I was sure I was a bit off in our translations.
Is the bottom line here:
1. Acceptance. (Accept the current emotion/status, such as with affirmations)
2. Change. (Realize that change will come indirectly, once the current status is accepted)
You and vairagi both noted "acceptance" as being the core to all of this. So in essence a person who is "stuck" in a stage where they wish to leave, would do best by doing indirect things like meditation and cleanses rather than trying to "be" happy/angry/whatever. And when a person is stuck in an emotion, it simply means they have not accepted their current emotional state. Change will come eventually, but only indirectly through acceptance. Acceptance can only be achieved indirectly, such as through re-wiring their thinking, creative expression, journaling, meditation, etc., etc., etc.
I think I understand better your stance, although not completely.
How would you tell someone in a few sentences, how to use acceptance and change to achieve their goal of leaving a stuck state?
(Is the bottom line here... people can't change what they *are*, but they can change what they *do*? or Accepting who you *are* will change you, and repeat that until you have changed through all stages to reach the goal?)
Sorry if I'm being a simplistic hard ass. I really want to understand your view on this....
