Re: Order

I am applying this to the downward spiral (and reversal) of a person's mental state or situation and how they can reverse it - the natural regression of losing out to emotions and control. Not how they can bully others or use anger to destroy themselves. The object isn't to be "stuck in anger", the object is to move back up the emotional scale, past anger, and end up in happiness or whatever state is at the top of the scale.

Maybe an example would work better... A person gets raped or assaulted. She completely lost control and is now devastated by it. Should she be sad and for how long, and what should she focus on if she can't break a sad spell that goes on for years? Should she do something more directed towards her attacker, like get angry at him and seek justice through the courts and yes, maybe even take kickboxing and beat the crap out of a punching bag to feel better? Then feel empowered and more in control?

The stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance) is similar to what I was thinking about, but not exactly... that grief scale places sad (depression) as more progressed than mad (anger), but the goal in the grief scale is a one-way street and the goal is not to reverse the order... so following that scale it would be best to tell a sad person to focus on acceptance to speed up healing. As opposed to reversing the process if you have a scale where Depression and suicide are the bottom, and the only way out is reversing back up to the top to happiness.
