MBT's are Great!
I feel for you. There is nothing worse than nerve pain and back issues. Been there done that and still not out of the woods but waaaay better.
You mentioned the MBT shoes. I love mine and have pretty much said goodbye to the Birkies. The Birkie company has annoyed me for years. They sell shoes with a flimsy crappy sole on it that wears out and costs a bunch of bucks to replace. Their color selection stinks. I am blue eyed and happen to like blue clothing including bluejeans. And there are millions of Birkie slogging types like me that wear jeans. Why they can't make a blue colored pair of Birks is beyond me. I have complained to them for years. They are stuck. Many years ago I had a pair of Birkies fitted with the rubber sole of a discarded automobile tire! The shoes were soooo comfortable and spongy. They landed in a rounded manner in a curvaceous sexy way. Why they could not be innovative and come up with a better sole design blows my mind.
THANKFULLY the Swiss made MBT's (it means Masai Barefoot Technolgy) have made up for that. The sole is exactly like the tire tread I had retrofitted many years ago. You walk with a flowing motion and you land on the heel softly. Walking is not jarring to the spine. And walking is fun again. Anyway I wonder if people know that the MBT shoe is classified and certified in Europe as a medical device! How many shoes have that credential? And you can't get that certification unless it has a medical effect. Bye bye Birkies...
A relative of mine has had years of back and neck pain, sore fallen arches, walked with a stooping over and spent a fortune on orthotics that aren't worth a plugged nickle. Once he got the MBT's he literally glides along, chest out, head high and looks like a ballet star. He is a new person. More confident and not depressed about his condition. The MBT's are remarkable. I love mine.
As for the NCR. It will radically change your life for the better. I am so thankful I had it done all those years ago. It is expensive though. I recommend you look into a cheaper and highly effective way to adjust your spinal issues using the Chinese method known as Bone Setting. This method addresses the ATLAS and very few chiros are doing this. Why I don't know. It solves a huge number of spine issues and it ain't that hard to do. I just cannot understand why something as effective as adjusting the atlas is so hard to get out of people. It's a no-brainer. If you find some one to adjust the atlas (you should notice major changes immediately) then you are done and will have saved big bucks.
I am so thankful I found out about this after spending a fortune on ineffective chiros. Still gets me annoyed thinking about it. Why don't chiros share their techniques? it shouldn't be that hard to do. Maybe ego has something to do with it? I dunno. Anyway get someone to adjust the atlas before the NCR route is taken. It may be all you need.
