Re: I am a woman, not a man, ok?

Hysterectomy is the easy way for the surgeon. Getting the ovaries out at the same time is usually simply "to save any future trouble". However it changes you drastically, both physically and mentally. Some of the effects are unpredictable and depend on how much testosterone your adrenals produce. If that's high you can get masculinized quite quickly. If it's low your libido may disappear entirely. Your vagina will be shorter and there's a fairly high probability that something else will prolapse through it eventually. When that happens with older women they'll often do a vaginal ablation -- simply close up the opening completely.

If your uterus has already started to prolapse it may be necessary to do something -- in the 19th Century many of our great great (etc) grandmothers ended up with four or five inches of everted vagina sticking out beyond their labia -- and, to state the painfully obvious, any sort of conventional penetrative intercourse as a female completely impossible. Press your doctor to investigate the possibility of a uterine re-suspension.
