Thank you for this info. I have been following it for the past 2 days. Initially it seems to be working well, although today, day 3, I think my skin on both my face and scalp is getting dried out maybe from the salt? Also in your experience would you say this works on the scalp as well as on the face?

I have Seborrheic Dermatitis on the face and on the scalp.

I will start by saying that i started washing my face daily with Sea Salt water from the Mediterranean Sea, this is the 12th day i am using it,and i can say that it takes the oil away and leaves my face clear and not so dry.

The day before yesterday a flare up started mostly to the right and the left of my nose.

I can't say the 1st cure doesn't work as it helped me get the oil away..

Last year i started washing my face 3 times a day with a baby shampoo containing oats and it left my face a little more dry than it should be but i didnt have a single flare up..

I will now start washing my face 3 times a day with Sea Salt water and see if i get flare ups ..I think the goal here is not to have an oily face as it seems.

I must also report that during flare ups the Sea Salt water hurts a little bit .

I would also like to ask you BullDancer what was your real problem and what was the second cure the real one for you?

I know that many people as me are searching for a cure of SD and are reading this message, it is possible to find the solution to this problem we just have to search for it , never give up or feel ashamed of your problem , you will one day get a lot better and you won't ever remember the past, it will be like it never happened , i have seen it , i have lived it , i am happy when my face is clear and i can go out :)

Wow that is an amazing write up from some one that obviously cares. Im starting doubt gps a lot. And now this confirmed all my research and now will put this in to action because I and many others are scared to stop using these creams and ointments being wrongly prescribed all the time for easy option out. BullDancer, I saw this post about 2 weeks ago while searching for a treatment for Scalp Psoriasis. I've had it for about 6 years and it is awful. My scalp is constantly itchy and flaky, and I am very embarrassed to wear any dark clothing. I also have it behind both ears. I went online and ordered Minera Dead Sea Salt s per your recommendation. I add 10 tablespoons of the salts to a 12 oz. spray bottle and fill it up with spring water. I spray my entire scalp twice a day, leave it on for 20 minutes, and then rinse it off with water. Today is the 8th day, and I am finally starting to see a difference. I will continue this routine every day for a full 2 weeks. I have tried every natural remedy available but nothing worked. I am very hopeful that the dead Sea Salt s will continue to clear up my skin. Thank you very much for this informative post. I'm so glad I found it and will post my results once the 2 weeks are up. Seeing your post, all i have was Sea Salt from trader joes...not sure if that was ok to use but i tried it last night and woke up with my lips feeling swollen and my face very dried and flakey...:( maybe its the type of salt i used? my face is so bad that im not willing to leave my house to buy the dead Sea Salt !!! This just sucks all the way around because i have been to countless doctors and skin doctors all prescribing crap my face couldnt handled and had to be discontinued. I guess theonly thing left is an allergy test to be done to hopefully solve this problem of mine. It stops me from being able to attend my sons school activities and even stepping out the house. And reading up a few other articles about SD my hygiene is off the roof! I am a neat and clean freak and clean my house everyday!!! Not even joking!!!

I have it on my scalp how would you recommend this process with the salt water treatment?

I have been reading your "CURE" in hopes to find something that would give immediate and lasting results to clear my new onset of SD. I'm a 30yr old female with a history of mild eczema as a kid (on the back of my legs) and have not had it return until a month ago, but it quickly went away. I have awful sinus and eye allergies that point to no cause and all the blood work and panels I have done show up normal. About 3-4 weeks ago I thought I was experiencing a flair up of acne, but as it developed I noticed it was only in and around my scalp. I then had some flaking/patches around my nose. I went to my derm and she told me it was SD and gave me an RX for Keto spoo. I used it and it did nothing. Over the next two weeks it just got worse and spread to other areas of my face. While I do think there is a lot of good information here and some helpful tips I think it is a very BOLD claims to state this is a CURE. The Dead Sea Salt remedy does HELP, but does not make the SD vanish or clear within hours; it helps to heal, but does not prevent nor clear. The diet or removal of most things we normally consume is also a great idea, but if you do not follow it strictly than it will do no good. You need to be aware that this is not an overnight cure or fix and saying so sets people up for disappointment. If you follow your recommendations exactly you don't wake up the next day with an entirely clear face/scalp. It takes time. So make sure you give realistic expectations. I do thank you for your advice, I just don't want others to give up too soon and think it isn't working if they try it for a few days. I have been doing it for 6 days and have seen only a slight improvement, but not entire clearing. In fact I have had old patches heal, but new patches come up. There is other components that need to be considered to really find a cure for SD.

Bulldancer, please allow me to share the cure that I have found for scalp seb derm after realizing as we all do that the dermatologists can't do it for us. I put down my steroids, stopped washing my hair every day as directed, stopping using antifungal shampoos, and am free to have my life back. Here is what freed me:

BRUSH WITH A 100% BOAR BRISTLE BRUSH FROM THE SCALP TWICE A DAY. If you have long hair, brush all the way through the hair or only part of the way, just move the oil from your scalp. Brush very thoroughly and be sure to brush from the scalp. Natural boar bristles attract oils and move them from your scalp. I wash my hair every fourth day when it seems very dirty, because that is my preference. I use no special shampoo, but I wash, rinse, repeat, use conditioner but none on the scalp, and then rinse my scalp with clean water very well.

From the day I started this 10 or 11 months ago, I never picked up a specialty product again, other than to put it away in my bathroom closet.

Please spread this information. It has been a God send to me, and I feel that it is so important to share it with everyone. We all have something in common, but hopefully this helps you, and we can help others. If everyone posts it on one site it can help so many people. First off, lemme just say that as soon as i washed my skin with the salt, the itchiness was COMPLETELY gone. holy crap.

I have/had this condition on my scalp near the back of my head for about 4 months. It started off as mild dandruff (as a result to my excessive hair dying) i figured it would go away in a week or so if i just put some oils on it the make the dryness go away. wrong. it just got worse, and soon formed to what i unofficially diagnosed as " Seborrheic Dermatitis ".

I found out that the cause of this was my hat.

I have short hair, and i'm trying to grow it out. And we all know that while short hair grows out, it flip-flops between stages of awkward, horrible-looking lengths. so i bought one of those baggy oversized beanies that the stoner kids wear, and started wearing it everywhere. well, i guess my hair wasnt used to it, and freaked out, making excessive oils in response.

so i guess what i'm saying is its not only what you eat, its also conditions that would cause this. today, i learned.
