For some unknown reason I thought it would be a good idea to do a salt water flush a couple days before my century (it’s this Sunday). I figured if I was going to be scrunched up on a bike for 7 hours I didn’t want to have any “intestinal discomfort” like I’ve had on some of my training rides. Well…by lower back had been sore because I had some…ummm…blockage.
So I buy my sea salt (without iodine) and have my bottled water all ready. I wake up at 5 this morning so I can drink and finish up in the bathroom before I go to work. I have it all mixed and ready to drink and my boyfriend looks over at me and says, “that better not make you sick this close to the ride”. I took about 3 sips, got really scared and stopped. My coach has told me all season long that I shouldn’t do anything new before the race, I’ve been training for 3 months, why screw it up.
So…I think I made a very wise decision. I will try the SWF after I get home and in preparation for the fast.
P.S. While I plan on writing in this blog every day, I won't be able to this weekened because I'll be gone. So it will have to wait for Tuesday.
