Vietnam comparisons raised by Bush2 - uh huh
Iraq's fatefull genocide and civil war is a factor of invading in the first place, not a factor of when the USA troops leave.
Date: 8/23/2007 2:42:59 PM ( 17 y ) ... viewed 1961 times Vietnam was the same as Iraq will be? - thats what Bush warned when talking about the USA troops leaving there.
If the Americans had not gone into Vietnam, millions and millions of deaths would not have occured, and there would not have been any difference in 'communist influence', dominoe theroy. etc. [it ended up communist anyhow]
For Iraq, it is now obvious - and it was predictable enough - that the place would not have been turned into a large heap of broken buildings and lives if America had never invaded Iraq. 100s of 1000s of lives would not have been lost, including many innocent bystanders there.
So ya, Vietnam and Iraq are the same that way.Iraq's fatefull genocide and civil war is a factor of invading in the first place, not a factor of when the USA troops leave.
As for leaving? - it was determined on the day America entered Baghdad in 2003 that when they left Iraq there will be genocide and civil war. There is no way around that, and it was proven by the Vietnam experience."Quagmire" ws the first words off my lips when he announced that the USA would invade Iraq, everyone knew it.
The only way to avoid that genocide is to not invade in the first place. Bush's audience for that speach is not that dumb [to believe his idea that the USA cannot leave now or there will be genocide and civil war because it will happen on whatever date they leave, so why stay and lose more soldiers and kill more civilians in the meanwhile?] ... still, some applauded.
