Full Fast Day #3
Lovely day progressing into the fast.
Date: 1/7/2016 4:33:07 AM ( 8 y ) ... viewed 758 times Wow, its getting late! I didn't realize the time - 9:15 PM and I've had a great day on this new fast. It's going really well, I did feel more of a need for the drinks I've been having today which was a healthy sign, woke up with a very coated tongue - early and seeing that I was deep into detoxing I asked my friend I live with to do some cupping on me at that time because I felt it would be really effective - morning being the time you are really deep into the detox.
Because I've been having so much trouble with my neck and shoulder, and was really feeling it - cupping helps, and doing it this early was a new time slot for me - the cups came out quite a bit darker and it was a big help. Got a few cracks out and some of the tension went. I rested after that, feeling inspired, wrote a big letter to an ex getting things off my chest it has been really hard to say and that was very emotionally cleansing for me - felt released of quite a bit just writing it - also read a bit of a book I'm studying on a Buddhist practice and slept a bit more - the best thing I've found to help this neck problem is lots of rest. When I got up again I felt a lot better - had another bath and cut my hair (something I usually do myself). I've been enjoying the bathing ritual while I've been fasting and I missed yesterday so it was really nice.
I had extra juices today, one watermelon and strawberry with some mint from the garden, and in the afternoon I had a tomato, celery and pickle juice with a little salt and pepper. I drank a young coconut which was a first for this fast. Other than that I've had a few cups of tea, some water, and a couple drinks I make that are kind of like italian sodas only I've been using a low GI syrup made with Agave and Rice Syrup. I've also been using ethyritol in my cups of tea in place of sugar so really cutting back on adding sugar to things. I have a spoonful or two of raw sugar in a coffee (I drink really weak white coffee sometimes once or twice a day, sometimes not at all) and there's sugar in the hot chocolate powder I drink - I'm not trying to eliminate caffeine or sugar though sometimes I will for a few days - for me this fast is about closing the gates of digestion, letting my body go into a big detox and rejuvenating my health, youth, spirit and wellbeing. I do this in a way that is simplest for me, some people might say I'm not so hardcore - not doing a pure juice fast or water fast or whatever many varieties of ways there are to do this = it works for me though, I have some dairy, it's not a milk fast but I'll drink a glass of kefir or two some days - haven't had any so far today - I'll have it in my tea and soda water with some sweet syrup etc. I guess what does make me hardcore is that I tend to do this for quite a long time - maybe up to 2 months was the longest fast and I'd like to repeat that this time if all feels good.
I love fasting, how it makes me feel, how it brings so much inspiration and rejuvenation. It is like a wellspring - there's nothing like it. It always brings me back to myself, purifies me spiritually and brings me so much clarity. Perhaps that is the best part of all but it's hard to pick as there are so many benefits!
Sweet Dreams to all you readers out there - & encouragement in whatever you're doing or thinking about trying :)
See you tomorrow!
