Day 8
My comments on the first week of a water fast
Date: 1/10/2015 11:47:04 AM ( 9 y ) ... viewed 742 times I have felt a call to fast mainly for spiritual reasons, yet the Lord knows there is a big health reason. I am obese. Seems like when I was negotiating the start of the fast with God, I binged on holiday junk food and reached my heaviest ever.
Starting weight: 250lbs 5'10" female mid-40s
Day 8: 235lbs
I've stated this as a water fast, however I have had squeezed fresh lemon juice in hot water each day. No honey or other sweetener. I am drinking distilled water (room temperature) throughout the day. I've noticed that I have to force myself to pour a glass, yet end up chugging 2 glasses. This tells me that I'm not real good at distinguishing real thirst & hunger from cravings. For having too much body, I am really out of touch with it.
I had some severe headaches on Days 2-3, which I call "toxic headaches", because they disappear soon after a bowel movement. Days 5-7 included mad rushes to the toilet as my body releases bile. From experience, don't assume it's only a fart because most of the time it is not. It seems like I am awake every 2 hours at night, however I feel rested in the morning. I've taken an Epson salt bath these last 2 nights because its relaxing & its effective for warming my hands and feet which seem to be permanently cold.
I have a full time job, and so far have had no problems maintaining my productivity. At work, I use my break time to walk outside, and I walk my dog 30-45min per day.
I am not experiencing the severe detox symptoms as prior fasts maybe because I did cut out the caffeine and was eating a lot salads and vegetables for prior 2 months. The extra weight came from eating donuts, bread, chips, etc between meals and eating too big of portions at meal times. I got hooked on Chipolte salads a year ago and that has been my bi-weekly fast food choice.
