Day 8 - Cruising

Update on my fast, day 8. Buzzing along.

Evening of Day 8 now, and I'm cruising - the fast is going great, it's got easy - easy now, the days are passing quickly yet not so quick as usual, as the clarity of the fast and the extra energy and time reclaimed not having to worry about meals, trips to the shop etc seems to give me those extra few hours in the day that turn it from that good old urban pressed for time feeling back into a relaxed flow.

Getting lots done, and the last few days my strength and energy has been coming up, I've been able to do more yoga and my body has started to feel really good, strong and healthy as a result. It's a great feeling - I feel really strongly lifted after 50-90 mins of Yoga every morning, so much brighter and happier. It's awesome. Find myself slowing down, noticing more as I progress in the movements.

Looking back on this fast, it's gone really well so far - The first 6 days maybe I had the odd yearning thought of meals and flavors fleeting through my mind, this seems to be all out of my system now and I feel more in full sail - fully on the fast and past the startup transition phase which is a great thing. I did have a little hunger here and there those first few days - not much, and just remembered when it came up that video I posted and how it pointed out that brief moments of hunger during fasting were the cause of the formation of new brain cells... Well that's pretty inspiring to know :)

I feel like I could go on indefinitely from this point, I'm having the odd fresh juice, maybe about 1 a day on average - juicing stuff like spinach, cilantro, fresh tumeric, ginger a bit of beet with some apple or pear mainly, a little celery or orange - got a bunch of mint today and throwing a little sprig of that in was lovely. I don't really want much juice or have any real craving for it - feel great afterwards though, last time I fasted I found out on here about Juice Feasting/Fasting and gave it a bit of a go - never could get into drinking more than a few juices a day though, I have no issue with having more juice, and would if I felt like it - I mostly just don't crave too much more than 1 glass a day - maybe broken down into 2 small ones at different points.

As I've noted before, I still drink a coffee or two a day, and I love a couple cups of tea - I still have it with a bit of milk and honey - it doesn't make any difference to the fast that I've ever been able to tell - I go right on detoxing and keep the doors of digestion closed - I think if what you have placates the need for comfort and flavor and supports you on your fast, it's all good - Works for me anyway over all these years of fasting and learning what does. The amount of milk had in a couple cups of tea a day is pretty negligible and doesn't even trig you're stomach into gurgling etc... it wouldn't be great to have big glasses of the stuff. I've found over the years, sucking on a tic tac or a few m&m's or whatever day 5 etc who really cares - you're body is not going to register it, but your tastebuds will and you soothe that need for flavor, sensation that can be so much stronger in us than the need for food.

It's funny - I've learned a lot about the emotional link to flavor, it's huge - over all these fasts, hat's off to the water fasters, I can't do it! Not only did I find when I tried it, my skin cracked and dried out rapidly in a kind of frightening way and my muscles started to cramp up (lack of magnesium?) and go to sleep on me - ugh... I'd just also go nuts from the boredom of no flavor.

I think if you're fasting for health benefits - and not trying to climb mount everest or something - or doing it for spiritual experience or to discover and build inner strength etc - fasting in a gentler way on liquids in general and/or fresh juices is soooo beneficial! I'd totally encourage anyone who wanted to get into it.
I don't think a juice feast would really be hard for most people if they got past the idea of not eating and tried a few days of it - it's pretty easy - in fact, you feel fantastic - might be a lot easier for me to say that considering I've really trained my body to go into this and to fast on much less calories than a juice faster would consume - so for me that is too much anyway :) But nice
I toy with the idea of what I'm going to do when I start the intermittent fasting at the end of all this - maybe I could do a food day followed by a juice day - instead of a food day followed by a one meal day. Or both - depending on what one felt like.

Well I think I'm just buzzing along and happily rambling my thoughts here - hope you readers are enjoying it and getting some inspiration and positive vibes :)

Till next update
