February 25, 2011

Yeah, it is Friday. I love short weeks! And boy did we get some snow! When I woke up it was a level one snow emergency at 6:30 a.m. I looked out the window and found my car covered with the lovely stuff. I took my time getting ready for work, to see if the County Courthouse would close or not, but I had been planning on going into work anyway, since I really needed to get my check. My car insurance automatically comes out on the 27th of each month, so I needed.

The roads were really bad doing into town, but I went slow, but the time I got to work it was a level Two snow emergency. I stopped by Subway and picked up something for breakfast. The way I saw it, if I had to go into work and face all this snow, then I am getting breakfast. I got a white egg with green peppers, onion, black olives, spinach (NO cheese!) on a whole wheat English muffin, a packet of sliced apples and a 12 ounces of 1% milk.

I got to the office, got my check, took it to the bank and came back. I was alone in the office for about an hour before the head attorney came it. He was surprised that I came in. I told him no one told me or called me saying not to. He knew it was a level Two, but didn't know that all the Courthouses were closed. He ended up leaving again to have breakfast, while I sat at the office wondering when I would get to go home. LOL

Around Noon time, I told him I was going to lunch (which I decided across the street, since I didn't pack my lunch and it was my cheat day!). Just as I was going out the door, he told me when I got back, I could go home. LOL. I went to the little deli across the street to get a salad. I got a chef salad with lite Italian dressing (which I didn't use). I wasn't impressed with the salad at all. There was nothing special about it. AT least it wasn't a lovely as the ones I can get at Baires. At Baires, they use mixed baby greens, and the marinate their black olives in olive oil, to give it a taste. It is because of Baires that I got hooked on eating Fresh Express mixed salad greens. The salad from the New Beginnings Deli wasn't great, but it was at least delicious because it was fresh veggies. I also got a fruit cup, which was cut up cantaloupe, melon, grapes and blueberries, which was really lovely.

I got home around 2:30 p.m. I took my time, as the roads were clearer then they were. I hadn't decided that my cheap meal or snack was going to be, but on the way home I decided on it. I felt almost embarrassed driving in the Burger King parking Lot. But I was only going to cheat with the New Stuffed Steakhouse burger, that sounded so good. I got the Jalapeno and cheese one, with a large salad. I took it home and ate it. I have to say that burger tasted so good, that I am planning trying to create my own at home. The salad was puny and I wasn't happy with it, but it was a good salad. I guess I judge all my salads based on how Baires' present theirs as well as how I make my own. The more veggies the better. Cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, celery, black olives, onions, radishes, you name it! I kind of felt a bit guilty about eating the fast food burger, but I had to remind myself that it was my cheat day, and I should cheat once in a while, to help prevent myself from binging on something at an odd time. Not like there is anything in my house to binge on: other then a small 7 ounce container of ice cream (left over from the original grocery run before my birthday) and 5 little containers of pudding in the fridge. I guess that is a good thing there is nothing horrible to eat in my house. I have really made sure that I was careful about getting rid of everything that bad for me.

After my little lunch/dinner meal (whatever you want to call it) and settled down reading a book and enjoying Mekong sitting in my lap, since I wasn't going to be going anywhere anytime soon. After a while, I decided to go though some of my stacks of books and organize them. I came across my Mossflower by Brian Jacques, and remembered that he just died at the beginning of February, just before my birthday. I remember reading it online and I was so devastated over it. He was my favorite author along with J.R.R Tolkien. I remember when I started reading his books when I was 24 years old. It is really funny how I found out about his main book, Redwall. I was watching PBS's reading rainbow one day (as I didn't have cable and I was watching what ever was on) and the last little boy was talking about this book called Redwall. I didn't remember the author, but the next time I was in the bookstore just looking at books, I remembered it. I checked out the book and liked it. I bought it and read it and I was hooked. Currently I own all the books but the last two ones that he came out it.

Here is the following list of Mr. Jacques's books in the Redwall series.

Redwall series
Redwall (1986)
Mossflower (1988)
Mattimeo (1989)
Mariel of Redwall (1991)
Salamandastron (1992)
Martin the Warrior (1993)
The Bellmaker (1994)
Outcast of Redwall (1995)
The Pearls of Lutra (1996)
The Long Patrol (1997)
Marlfox (1998)
The Legend of Luke (1999)
Lord Brocktree (2000)
The Taggerung (2001)
Triss (2002)
Loamhedge (2003)
Rakkety Tam (2004)
High Rhulain (2005)
Eulalia! (2007)
Doomwyte (2008)
The Sable Quean (2010)
The Rogue Crew (2011)

All the copies I have are well worn, as I have read them a lot, and they are all paperbacks except for Eulalia and Doomwyte, because I couldn't wait 8 months for it to come out in paperback. I have decied to wait on the last two, so I can get them in paperback. I still can't believe that he died! I will really miss waiting for a new book of his. He always seemed to come out with a new book every year and I always looked forward to its release. He will be sadly missed by me. I will have to find my other books, as my books (especially some series like the Redwall) are not all together, since I have moved 3 times in the in 6 years. As well as some of my books are in storage and not even in my house. I will have to make it a goal to read all the Brian Jacques' books I have this year, as a tribute to my favorite author.

I usually keep a list of books that I have read during the year. I know that I posted a list of books I was trying to finish on January 3, 2011.

Here is the list:

YOU on a Diet” by Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz (Started December 24, 2010)

The Beginner's Guide to Fasting by Elmer Towns (Started December 27, 2010)

Toxic Relief by Don Colbert M.D (started December 28, 2010)

I still haven't finished any of those books other then Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I fished that on January 18, 2011

There are the current books I have finished so far this year:

1. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (Finished January 18, 2011)

2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Finished February 3, 2011)

3. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Finished February 8, 2011)

4. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Finished February 13, 2011)

5. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Finished February 17, 2011)

6. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Finished February 21, 2011)

I hope to pick up the books that I wanted to finish but I haven't yet. Especially the fasting one, as I get closer to my Lenten Water Fast. I always like to read those when I am on my fast.

I have always planned on setting up a room as a mini library. My trailer is a bit smaller then my apartments in the past, but it will do. I guess once I get over the whole issue, that PJ was sleeping in the guest room, then I can transform the guest room into a library for me, as well as put my computer if I want so it can be a place where I can write again (once I get into it again).

I have to seriously think about my Lenten Water fast that will be coming up on March 9, 2011. I must prepare for any short juice fasting I might do, when the detoxification symptoms get to bad. I must be more prepared this time around, because I really want to stick this out until Easter, like I did like 6 years ago. I need a spiritual renewal and a better connection with God, then I do now. A lot has happened in the last 3 years that has really shaken up my faith in God. It is as if my faith is so weak, that I struggle with it at times when I talk to Him. I really would love to renew and re-connect with Him, then I have in the last 3 years. I have had a lot of heartache in that time, so maybe the Lenten Season of 2011, will be my break through year with God's will living and moving through me. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

My evening was okay. I just hung out with my lovely cats and my books. Nothing exciting on my part, but I guess that is the life of a single woman with no children.

Sigh. . .
