Day 23 - More Guidance on Food & Energy

Today I started to think about how to break the fast - since I'm a week away from the 30 day marker. I now realize it will have to be a slow transition back to something - I just dont know yet. I've researched the "100% Raw Food" lifestyle and can say although I understand it's principles and benefits - it doesnt feel right for me. I'm thinking perhaps a percentage of my overall intake will become raw - perhaps 50-60%, but not 100%.
It's interesting how my preferences have changed while doing this. I used to crave carbs but now I'm looking forward to lean protein (fish, turkey, chicken) and fresh vegtables - especially salads. The thought of a big spinach salad with cucumber and tomato sounds great to me right now. And I used to enjoy creamy salad dressings like ranch or blue cheese, but now all I want is olive oil and vinegar and/or lemon. I now cant even imagine eating ANYTHING processed! Like bottled salad dressing, pre-prepared items, canned anything.
The other day I went through our pantry and read labels - it's amazing how much processed additives basically denature the nutrient qualities of this stuff. And sodium - everything is laced with mountains of this stuff. I was looking at "healthy" cans of soups - these contained 30-45% sodium! How and why has the SAD (Standard American Diet) gotten so overloaded with sodium? I think I know why - it sells! Try a blind tasting of a low sodium product to a regular product and I'll bet 9/10 would prefer the high sodium product. I think its conditioning. I will be sure when I return to eating that I will carefully make sure I don't get to those higher levels of sodium tolerance. And now I'm remebering that when I used to exercise pre-fast - I always had a distinct sodium residue in my sweat and now it's totally different. Also I think that sodium retention keeps your soft tissue in edema, therefore you retain water and have subtle mobility issues. And perhaps it can trigger cravings to keep the sodium level high - which in turns makes you reach out for the quick sodium fix of chips, junk food and sodas. Ahh - It all makes sense now - I see clarity of some of the dietary issues I had pre-fast. What are some of your issues?
Now that I have completed my rampage on food, I'll talk a little about my EFT experience. Let me first say - this may not be for everyone - but try to keep an open mind. EFT has been around for a long time - goes back to ancient cultures in the East. Basically it is a practice of healing and re-synchronizing your energy centers within the body. Our bodies have 7 distinct energy centers and from each of these there are "meridians" which are like channels of energy paths. If anyone has studied Kundalini Yoga, Chakras, Chi, Acupuncture - these all address these energy centers. Most people don't know of the existance of these energy centers - but with some quick study and through some basic meditation you can discover and feel your own centers and imbalances. This is not "supernatural" and does not require ESP to discover this in yourself - so release those thoughts early on and you will have much better success. EFT is a processed where a certified healer (think of these people as a naturopathic doctor or consultant) works with you to read and diagnose the state of your energy centers and helps you to guide and repair imbalances.
Once you learn some of these techniques, you can do this every day - I do it first thing in the morning while lying in bed. I have a 30min Chakra balancing clip on my Ipod that I swear is better than ANY drug or pill on the market. It works on me every time I hear it! I found it through trial and error on Itunes and if anyone is interested I'll post on here the author. I think it cost $8.00.
Be open to discovering your energy centers. It can be life transforming once you get in touch with this.
