Today I felt so incredible and the weather was so fantastic that I decide to go on a long hike through the hills. I did about 16 miles and felt great but about halfway through the Santa Ana winds started kicking up and accelerated some dehydration. I thought I had plenty of water but I started sucking it down like crazy! On the last stretch - about 6.5 miles between the last water fillup and home - it felt like I could not get enough water - the classic dehydration process - one you feel dehydrated its too late. OMG - the last 3 miles were a real struggle. When I finally arrived home - and the last half mile is all uphill - I was dizzy and light-headed and calmed myself down by sipping water for about 15 mins and this passed. Next time I do this kind of distance - lesson learned I will bring my camel-water backpack. I have done this distance before even in warm weather with no problems - but I guess on the fast things are different.
Spent rest of the day relaxing and recovering from the hike - felt really good once re-hydrated. Made the family their favorite meal - steak, veggies and potatoes - yum, it looked good but body was not really interested in it at all. Btw - if you are fasting and you are in the role of making/cooking dinner for your family - don't think you cannot do this. The first couple of days its difficult - but then it changes and you can be around all of this food and not have a problem with it.
Noticing my pants/shorts are hanging of me a bit. I've gone from a Mens-Medium (Size 32 waist) to a Mens-Small (size 30 waist).
