Internal Salt Water Bathing
As it is necessary to bathe the outside of our bodies, so it is with the inside. Do not take enemas or colonics at any time during the cleansing diet or afterwards. They are unnecessary and can be extremely harmful.
There is a much superior method of cleansing the colonic tract without the harmful effects of customary colonics and enemas. This method will cleanse the entire digestive tract while the colonics and enemas will only reach the colon or a small part of it. Colonics can be expensive while our salt water method is not.
Directions: Prepare a full quart of luke-warm water and add two level teaspoons of uniodized sea salt. Do NOT use ordinary iodized salt as it will not work properly. Drink the entire quart of salt and water first thing in the morning. This must be taken on an empty stomach. The salt and water will not separate but will stay intact and quickly and thoroughly wash the entire tract in about one hour. Several eliminations will likely occur. The salt water has the same specific gravity as the blood, hence the kidneys cannot pick up the water and the blood cannot pick up the salt. This may be taken as often as needed for proper washing of the entire digestive system. If the salt wash does not work the first time, try adding more or less salt until the proper balance is found; or possibly take extra water without the salt. This often increases the activity. Remember, it can do no harm at any time. The colon needs a good washing, but do it the natural way - the salt water way.
It is quite advisable to take the herb laxative tea at night to loosen, then the salt water each morning to wash it out. If for some reason the salt water cannot be taken in the morning, then the herb laxative tea must be taken night and morning.

Specifically, I would use Hawaiian Red/Pink salt.
It contains all the "livingness" from today's ocean, with minimum pollutants.
If you want a more Ayurvedic approach, mix several different types of salts in varrying proportions.
For example, mix the following proportion:
72% Hawaiian Red/Pink salt
25% Himalayan Crystal Salt
1% Celtic Sea Salt
1% Black Salt
1% Real Salt
With the above mixture of salts, you get the base energy of today's energy matrix from the Hawaiian, the pristine energy of the Himalayan, and a homeopathic amounts of Celtic, Black and Real salts.
Of course, you can choose the proportions and the types you desire.

Thanks Sweetlife!
Interesting formula. I have not heard of black salt before, nor the Hawaiian. I just became a real *salt-head* when I began doing the Master Cleanse and found myself seeking out great tasting salts. Since then I will linger in front of salt displays in a health food store like it was a jewelry case...ggg.
I will certainly check out places to find those salts online and try your Ayurvedic formula. Did the recipe come from a link you can share. I would be interested in reading more about how much to use on a daily basis and the benefits.

I would not recommend it. Perhaps occasionally if you have a reason to, but it washes out the good flora in your gut and that is something which you work to build up.

It depends on what your reasons are for doing the SWF. If it is a bowel cleansing protocol, then it is acceptable. If it is just to purge last nights binge..ixnay!
Your body is a huge chemical factory, and when you begin messing with it, you will throw it out of balance. When we are fasting, we are not taking in food and the body is not in a digestive mode. This makes a difference than when the body is secreting acids, enzymes and such to deal with food. The *flora* in your gut is an important part of that process which is also why, when we break our fast, it works better when you replace that flora which the salt water flushes out using probiotics or yogurt or acidophilus.
I hope this helps.

Zoe,
You have such a way about you, and also a very talented writer. I wish you had email as I did have some personal things I would like advice on. I am going through a divorce at this time in my life and I think I read someplace you had liver flushed through it...your own divorce that is...I start the master cleanse tomorrow and really need some support.
Thanks....Lady

Hello,
I believe I do have my email function working. I know I get email...ggg. You can turn yours on and I can communicate with you if you should up in the forum. They are very supportive there too...
Yes, metaphysically, the Liver is known as the seat of the emotions and so it can be
very productive to flush the liver to help process those emotions. It did help me, although I think there were lots of factors which mainly revolved around my own willingness to surrender my anger and emotions to make room for comfort and a way to see the light in my situation.
The Master Cleanse will help you detox physically as well as emotionally so try to be gentle with yourself.
I wish you well on your healing journey...
blessings,
Zoe

- I messed up the SWF on day 2 by telltammy

It's my second day on the Master Cleanse and I didn't realize I only put 1 tsp of salt in the lukewarm water until I read it again. The first day I did it right. But I'm a little discouraged since I messed up today. I was wondering why the bowel movement wasn't as much as it was yesterday. Did I mess up big time?

- Salt Flush did nothing! by robertyoga

Hi. I tried the salt flush this morning and it did nothing at all. I have been using Nature's Secret Super Cleanse for the Colon instead of the tea, and took them last night. This morning I drank the water, and it wasn't that bad for me. But I never had a bowel movement. Later in the day I got really dizzy and had to take a nap. Because of the cleansing effects, I've been getting between 5 and 6.5 hours of sleep / night and perhaps that is the reason for the dizziness. Or, it is detox.
I was hesitant to do it again a few hours later as that is a lot of salt water in one day.
What do you think? Maybe I am dehydrated.

Hi Robert,
Certainly dehydration could easily be an issue.
It is hard to know since you are modifying the
cleanse with a colon cleanse. That would make
me suspect that you are dehydrated.
The only other usual problem is the correct
recipe. 2 teaspoons of uniodized sea salt in
a quart of water. It is important, to measure
correctly. I like to make the solution up the
night before so the salt is completely dissolved
and it does taste like a soup broth to me.
I would not use the SWF again today since it is
only to be done on an empty stomach. You may even
consider skipping the SWF for a day and drink up
plenty of water to help flush the salt out.
Is there any particular reason you do not want
to use the lax tea?? The thing is, I have not
modified using two cleanses in one so I do not
have any experience to point to, from myself,
or the archives. If you follow the protocol
most of us are using, it is much more predictable.
I wish you success on your cleansing adventure~!
blessings,
Zoe

Thank you! Super Cleanse by Natue's secret is essentially tablet form of a laxative tea. I think I will review your blog in greater detail. It seems amazing.

Hi Again,
I am reading through your entire Journey (was this last year?) and have a question about the SWF. You said you did yours on your first day, and I assume you had chinese food the night before based on the fortune cookie (that was cute). My question is this: If someone is eating, how many hours do you think should pass before the SWF would be effective, ie., the stomach should be empty. I am also curious about your zapper and your overall knowledge of cleansing. I have been cleansing on and off for over 10 years, but much more in the last 2 years. I sort of feel like I need to cleanse several times a year and have tried products by Renew Life, Nature's Secret and Nature's Way. I also think that Triphala is a good regular maintenance to use w/ a cleansing diet, like The Body Ecology Diet, The Maker's Diet or green meals, such as The Ultimate Meal.

While I was searching for yr reply to “Not a care in the world” (very tricky to find!) I was reading this post about salt water flushing. Should they be done during cleanses only? I mean fasting only?
I always start my days with 1 – 1.5 pints of salted warm water. I have recently increased my salt intake to help my adrenals and I have been getting …… yes…..a cleansing experience. Stinky BM’s.
I take 1-2 teaspoons (large-ish) of Himalayan rock salt per day. And 0.5 tsp in the morning gives me this cleansing experience.
To me, it feels fine and I always like to think “better out than in”

While this may work, my understanding is that
it also washes out the good gut flora. If your
digestion is good, you would have no need to
"flush" your system. Sure, you can take salt
and use it medicinally, and I also do this,
as per the Water Cure, using 1/4th teaspoon of
sea salt per liter of water, however, when I
am not fasting, I never need to use the water
flush. I have bowel movements after my first
glass of water which I have upon rising each
morning.

Zoe

Hello Zeobless!
I noticed this is a very old post but I have to say this from experience.
I used home colonics (Coloma board) and coffee enema for more than four years. The problem with this kind of purging systems is one mental, more of an attitude and boy is it time consuming. Thank God for having my own separate bedroom that helped a lot.
I can’t say enough about the coffee enema. The benefit is just immediate. The flow of oxygen to the brain, and enlightenment of things I never knew before (the wow factor) is one of the many benefits I enjoyed. But you have to know what you are doing.
Couldn’t achieve the benefits if some one is only mind smart. Need to go deep and be in touch with the heart and follow the spirit. That needs trusting your own spirit. That is no easy task. Need patience, practice and time.
That said I also use SWF. It’s superb. Like you said it will clean you from top to bottom.
What I am trying to say here is all these purging system have place and time. The important thing is how to use them effectively with wisdom. When it comes to wisdom IHMO nothing beats following the heart or Spirit
Happy cleansing

I had great results when I did the saltwater flush during my Master Cleanse about a year ago. Is it ok to do this saltwater flush now, even though I'm not doing the lemonade master cleanse? Could this be done every morning?
Thanks.

Hi Nestman,
No, it would not be appropriate to use
the salt water flush on a daily basis when
not fasting. It washes out the good gut
flora and that is something, post-cleanse,
you want to rebuild.
You might consider something like Dr.
Christopher's Lower Bowel Balance. It
is a good way to tone and strengthen your
bowels. And safe, imo, for extended use.
Use the Curezone search engine for more
info on Lower Bowel Balance.
Best wishes,
Zoe

I read a book that says you should do an enema or colonic after each liver cleanse, to make sure no stones got left in the colon. I thought a saltwater flush would be better than a enema, as it would cleanse the full GI tract. If I just did it once, would it be all that bad for the good bacteria? I don't really have the money to pay for a colonic.
Thank you.

You can do it but that is definitely
different from doing a SWF every day.
Of course, afterward, you will still
want to work to build up the good gut
flora. I use probiotics or kefir or a
good natural yogurt. This past few
years, I have also been using fermented
vegetables like kimchi and sauerkraut
to add good bacteria to my gut. I make
my own so it has not been pasteurized.
best wishes,
Zoe

Question for you, hopefully you are still monitoring this.
Recently I had to take a course of antibiotics for an abscessed tooth.
They gave me Clindamycin which has basically killed EVERYTHING good and bad in my system.
The result is that even being off the antibiotic for several days and taking probiotics I am doing a darn good impression of Old Faithful every hour or so.
Typically I am regular to super-regular (two to three very productive BMs a day).
I am seeing incompletely digested food that I have not eaten for 10 plus days, corn is one example. sorry to be explicit.
What my question is about doing the Master Cleanse and the Salt Water Flush. In my current condition I was wondering the following:
1) should I wait until things "dry up"?
2) is this a good time to plan the MC?
3) if i did the SWF for say two or three days (in my current condition) prior to starting the MC and eating normally until I begin the MC, would that have any negative effects I should anticipate?
My work schedule is such that I mostly work at home M-F but on Sat and Sun I have to be outside the home (in an office) for 8 to 10 hours and cannot be spending my time in the bathroom.
So what I was thinking is that say starting Saturday I would do the SWF and eat Normally, repeating Sunday.
Monday I would start the MC and SWF which will keep me away from other peoples food temptations for 5 days to get used to the Fasting/Hunger aspect.
I was planning a 10 Fast for my first MC, just because I think that is reasonable goal that I can hopefully reach.
To add to this I am doing Oil Pulling for my gums and teeth cleanse and for that I am using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Will the EVCO affect the MC in any way?
Thanks for any guidance you can offer
Mike
