Dr. Lam is too obsessed with adrenal fatigue and should look at the bigger picture. What I don’t understand is why he doesn’t have set fees for his consultations. Even acupuncturists and chiropractors show their fees but can be flexible sometimes depending on the circumstances. In my opinion, there’s no such thing as adrenal fatigue but I do believe in chronic stress.
Read this about adrenal fatigue from The Endocrine Society: http://www.hormone.org/Public/upload/Adrenal-Fatigue-Web.pdf
We shouldn’t be wasting time with an unproven diagnosis.
This article is nice to read too:

Archus,
Have you figured out what’s your daughter’s primary health problem -whether hypoglycemia or adrenal fatigue. Remember, adrenal fatigue (weak adrenals) can casue hypoglycemia, and severe hypoglycemia (pancreas disorder) can cause adrenal fatigue.
I was on hypoglycemia diet and supplementation for long time and my hypoglycemia did not improve at all. I took adrenal fatigue supplementation and my hypoglycemia symptoms disappeared.

Dr. Lam,
Dr. Lam, please advise all of us how to talk to doctors about adrenal fatigue.
What can we say to convince our doctors that one has adrenal fatigue? I have extreme symptoms and low cortisol, low testosterone and off DHEA in ASI saliva tests and doctors keeps telling me I am healthy.
Thank you for explaining the phases of adrenal fatigue so clearly and for your web site and your work on Adrenal Fatigue.

Hi dreamer03 - You might to start by reading ”The Mood Cure” by Julia Ross. That book has good advice on supplements and nutritional approaches for issues like insomnia, adrenal fatigue and depression. To learn about adrenal fatigue, read ”Adrenal Fatigue” by James Wilson. www.drlwilson.com and www.arltma.com also have good articles on adrenal fatigue and related issues.

I disagree, there are other ways to damage your adrenals besides not eating. High Stress jobs, working out too hard, damaging your CNS etc. are all possible. ”Adrenal fatigue” is just a term meaning damaged adrenals. Anorexia damages the adrenals and thus causes Adrenal fatigue. But not every case of adrenal fatigue is linked to starvation. Anorexia is linked to AF, but AF is not always linked to Anorexia

Re: Insomnia and magnetic pillows?
by Iolite 16 y
A couple of common causes of insomnia are adrenal fatigue (high cortisol) and parasites. If you’ve been under stress for a while due to illness, job or family stress, it can cause the adrenals to pump out cortisol to compensate. In the early stages of adrenal fatigue high cortisol is the main factor for fatigue and insomnia.
Parasites can also cause insomnia by producing ammonia as waste disrupting your sleep.
A 24 hr cortisol test can determine if you have adrenal fatigue.

Until you remove that which is causing the adrenal exhaustion then you are wasting your money on pills. What causes adrenal fatigue? Over exposure to allergens (foods/chemicals that your immune system reacts to) is the most common cause. People don’t get adrenal fatigue because they aren’t taking adrenal supplements and so they can’t cure it by taking them.
Parasites introduce their waste products into your body which you react to. This can cause adrenal fatigue.

Hyperthyroidism (graves) is caused by antibodies attacking the thyroid. The adrenals and thyroid are linked thru the HPA axis and hypothyroidism (and I suppose hyperthyroidism) can cause adrenal fatigue due to the stress on the adrenals and adrenal fatigue can cause secondary hypothyroidism due to the faulty conversion of T4 to T3 causing a build up of RT3 rather than proper conversion of T4 to T3.
Do you have labs that show you have hyperthyroidism or do you just have adrenal fatigue symptoms that feel like hyper symptoms (insomnia, thudding heart).

Trick X
In the early stages of adrenal fatigue, the adrenals start pumping out extra cortisol as your body stays in a constant ”fight or flight” stage. High cortisol 24/7 is not normal and is considered ”stage 1” adrenal fatigue or insufficiency. When my adrenal fatigue was at its worst, my am reading was 53 more than twice what it should have been. All 4 times in my saliva test recorded above range high cortisol.

What you are describing sounds more like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome than adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue is very limiting but with CFS you can completely ”crash” and stay that way for a while. What to do about it? I used the Microbe Electrifier by BioElectric to get rid of the causative virus of CFS (although there is a CFS that isn’t by a virus) and then used their Candida Zapper to get rid of intestinal candida which was causing food allergies which was causing adrenal fatigue.

Dr. Lam proves my theory that AF is really under-eating

I’ve been talking a lot about how I now agree with the mainstream medical community that ”adrenal fatigue” is not a real condition. The tipping point for me was noticing that most people who were diagnosed with AF by some kind of alternative doctor had high cortisol levels. What I think so-called ”AF” really is are the symptoms of malnutrition due to under-eating/starvation.
My theory is further proven by what the king of the AF supplement salesman, Dr. Lam, says about who’s much more likely to get AF:

What are the Symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue?
The adrenals are small glands that sit on top of each kidney. They are responsible for producing many hormones. One of the most important adrenal hormones is cortisol.
“ Adrenal fatigue” is a controversial condition. Doctors are taught in medical school that the adrenals are either fully functioning, or not functioning at all, which is a disorder known as Addison’s disease.
An increasing number of doctors are however forming the opinion that there is an intermediate zone of adrenal function where the adrenals are producing cortisol, ...
