Re: Help!

$1400 sounds like way too much for a doctors visit. I would either look for a different doctor or use the money to buy insurance. I am a big believer in alternative health but I don't necessarily agree with the people who suggest you should never visit doctors. I had an experience similar to what harleygirl mentioned above. My boss had acid reflux and refused to go see a doctor. When he finally went he was diagnosed with cancer of the esophogaus. They gave hime 6 months to live. He beat the odds and lasted almost 4 years but I just attended his funeral in July. My mom had a routine chest x-ray in 1999. Her doctor was on the ball and picked up on a small spot on her lung. It was cancer. She hadn't showed any symptoms yet. They removed part of her lung and she is still alive today. If the cancer had been diagnosed after symptoms showed she would be dead today. One of the guys who works for my department was feeling poorly this summer. No energy and a bad cough. He ended up in the hospital with a heart attack. It turned out he had a massive buildup of fluid around his lungs which was pushing on his heart, and this caused the heart attack. Unbelievably, he wanted to leave the hospital that first night. He hates visiting doctors. He hadn't seen one in decades, and he ended up within 12 hours of dying becasue of it. Don't let people tell you that you should never visit a doctor. I think "official" medical tests can be invaluable in determining your health problems. Medical technology is amazing these days. That is not to say that you have to go on a doctor's regiment of prescription drugs, but if you think you have serious health problems then get some tests done. My main "doctor" is a kinesiologist who doesn't take insurance, but even he sees the place for doctors in certain situations.
