Re: Hypo issues.

an Iodine deficient person's liver is damaged by alcohol metabolism.

quesiton is, what about an Iodine sufficient person ? why is it that I can drink like five times as much alcohol when I"m Iodine sufficient, and not even have a "morning after" effect ?

I think iodine reduces alcohol toxicity. Heck, it reduces the toxicity of lots of other things too.

Perhaps all of this points to the critical nature of iodine in all the body's detoxification pathways. That sure would be consistent with all Ive read.

So, what is applicable regarding alcohol to the iodine-deficient, may not be true about folks who are iodine-sufficient.

Alcohol is a diuretic. It causes flushing. It can also cause dehydration, but I haven't noticed it since becoming iodine sufficient. The hard part for many, is in becoming iodine sufficient, because of all the detox that occurs along the way.
