Re: i just gotta inject some reality here

Mnay people I know think that greenbacks were a great idea. I'll let you decide after you learn a couple of facts. The currency was till a debt currency. They were IOU's created because of the war. The structure (very important) was still one of centralization , under government.

The benefit was that interest was payable to the country, yes, but under such a system, there was no assurance that the government wouldn't inflate the supply. Inflation is the hidden tax and we all know that politicains love to spend money, especially when it's someone else's sweat that will pay it back.

Interest is a secondary issue to creation. You cannot charge an interest until you create a supply. Consider the order of events from the "genesis" of the currency creation.

Two real heroes of American history, where sound money are concerned, are Thomas Jefferson (a real American) and Andrew Jackson. They fought centralization.
A decentralized currency must be asset based. You cannot operate a debt based currency without centralization. It's simply an accounting system. Debt based, fiat currency and centralization are codependent partners in an "age of codependency", something also called "the age of grace" by some. Debt based currency is a measure without a weight, within the law of weights and measures.
