I am in Virginia....many of our counties, towns, and cities are named after western European towns and cities. I am mostly Scotch/Irish/German with a bit of Native American thrown in by my great-grandmother.
I do know that our Midlothian was named after your city in Scotland. I had a UK trip planned last year that got cancelled and I had even planned on getting up to Midlothian and Edinburgh. I know that it's very beautiful in your area; it's very beautiful here too. Midlothian is a suburb of Richmond, Virginia., which is named after Richmond, England; that's a suburb of London, ofcourse. Richmond in England has 7 hills; our Richmond does too. The early settlers noticed the commonality and thus named it Richmond.
I hope your first flush goes well. Keep everyone updated.
