Re: An idea of what God without Religion is
Here's my 2cents too
What about God and our having a personnal relationship with Him?
A. Having a personal relationship with God is very very important, however, how can you have a relationship with God without knowing accurately who He is? This is where "organized religion" is helpful. Jesus said "You worship what you don't know, we worship what we know." Knowing God accurately is important. Also recall Phillip's meeting with a man reading Isaiah, Phillip asked if he actually knew what he was reading and the man humbly replied "Really, how could I ever do so without someone guided me?" and asked Phillip to sit down and help him, showing that we need teachers to help us understand the Bible. (Acts 8:26-35 / Jh 4:22)
Is an "organised religion" the only way to have that relationship?
A. Only if it is the one true faith. Most people don't realize that there is only one true faith/religion. They believe that all are acceptable to God but the Bible says "one Lord, one faith, one baptism." (Eph 4:1-6) James says "The form of worship that is clean and undefiled FROM THE STANDPOINT OF OUR GOD is...to keep oneself without spot from the world." (Jas 1:27) The vast majority of organized religions are very spotted by the world, from their doctrines to their attitudes to their organizational ways. The one faith to look for would be one that has freed itself from such worldly spots. Though somewone may believe himself to belong to a good christian church Jesus himself will tell them "I never knew you, get away from me," (Matt 7:21-23 / Tit 1:16) The road of pure worship is narrow, for it is uncompromising in it's stand for truth, while all others are on the wide road of the world headed for destruction. (Matt 7:13-14)
Is having that relationship outside of that organised religion okay? why, why not
Well again, help is needed in knowing how to worship in spirit and truth. (Jh 4:23-24) Further we are told not to foresake the gathering of ourselves together. (Heb 10:23-25 / Acts 2:42-46) Our relationship with God should encorporate all aspects of our lives, while we are in our places of worship or at home.
