Some people require the structure of a religious service (catholic, orthodox, jewish etc) in order to worship Christ and God as they should. The hurtful thing is that those who have no relationship with Christ often guide those who need that structure. Another hurtful thing is the ostracism of those who perish in that structured enviroment. It should be about strengthening the personal relationship of follower and God, not about rules being followed and broken. Needs are a diverse at the people who need, a one size fits all set up is often damaging. I guess that leaves those of us who recognise that to try and do damage control when asked to. If the organised religions cannot/will not flex to include all needs then the Lord asks the rest of us to meet those needs.
