Re: severe dysplasia

I read your post, and understand your fear. I have been diagnosed with severe dysplasia on and off since 1999. Just to ease your fears my daughter was born in 2001 and my son just this year in 2007. I have had several procedures done to try and get rid of the bad cells. I have had two LEEP's which removes the damaged cells with a laser and I have also had removal of the cells with a knife,(for the life of me I cannot think of the procedures name). From what my doctors have been telling me is that the cervix is very hearty and bounces back from these procedures. Of course your treatment will depend on how invasive the cells are. I am also struggling now with dysplasia outside of the cervix around the vulva area. During the c-section with my son, I had several tumors removed that turned out to be dysplasia. The surgerys are pretty easy. They are all day surgeries, but I recommend taking some time off to rest, and to prevent hemmoraging, since the cervix is all tissue, bleeding can occur very easily. LEEP is the most common procedure, and my doctor informed me that they are not putting women to sleep for it anymore, which scared me! So my doctor went the other route last time with the knife. I have had no trouble carrying my two children, and am very thankful for that. I hope I have been of some help for you. Let me know if you have any more questions.
