Re: severe dysplasia

I'm sorry for your current diagnosis. I'm 32 and at the age of 16 (first trip to gyn) I too had dysplasia (stage 3 or 4) I had the leep procedure (one of the first to be done in the united states) and the reason my doctor did it was because of my age and the fact that I wanted children. In doing the leep it actually saves alot of the cervix leaving you able to bare children. The procedure itself was done in the doctors office and I'm sorry to say painful, but I know that in my case when she numbed the cervix she didnt numb one side enough and I felt it. Now with so many being done I'm sure that won't be the case. The actual numbing of the cervix was tough. Afterwards, there is alot of discomfort and bleeding! I remember going into the corner store (moving too soon I'm sure) and telling my mom that I had just pee'd on myself, I looked down and it was blood not urine! I look back now and am so glad to have had it! As I said Im 32 and have two beautiful girls, 6 and 14 months. Havent had an abnormal pap since! So try not to worry too much! Get the leep if need be. It's probably the best option for your diagnosis. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
